Training of professionals

BMS team ’s Heeren Loo Ermelo provides courses for physiotherapists who work with children with Down syndrome. Every year, you can attend the course “Physiotherapy for Young Children with Down Syndrome” there. The course teaches the evidence-based BMS method.

As a participant, in two and a half days, you will learn to administer the “Test of Basic Motor Skills of Children with Down Syndrome” (BMS) and translate the test results into functional treatment goals. You will conclude the course by testing a child with Down syndrome, drawing up a treatment plan, and presenting your findings.

Participants who successfully complete the course receive a BMS certificate, authorizing them to use the BMS method. The accreditation committee of the Royal Dutch Society for Physiotherapy has awarded accreditation points for the register of Pediatric Physiotherapists and for the Register of General Practitioners.
